Negative Covid-19 Test Required For Entry to Sweden

On February 3rd, the Swedish Government approved a general entry ban for foreign nationals, unable to present a negative Covid-19 test upon arrival in Sweden. The aim is to reduce the risk of spreading the new variants of the Covid-19 virus that have been detected in a number of countries.

The new regulation will come into force February 6th and will be in place until March 31st 2021.

Foreign nationals will need to present a negative Covid-19 test result upon entry into Sweden, regardless of where they are arriving from. The test must be completed not more than 48 hours prior.

Swedish citizens, foreign residents in Sweden, as well as staff in the transport sector will be exempt from the new ban. People younger than 18 will not have to get tested, and the rules will be more flexible for cross-border commuters.

The Government is expected to publish more in-depth information regarding exactly which categories of travellers are exempt from the test requirement. We will continue to monitor the situation and share relevant updates as we get them.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have regarding these new restrictions.

Thank you!
